Tracing the Philosophy of Tea and the History of the Urasenke School "Chashu of the Urasenke School" / Chado Shiryokan

Thursday, September 15, 2022 - Sunday, December 4, 2022
9:30-16:30 (last admission 16:00)
Tea Ceremony Museum

An exhibition featuring tea ceremony utensils and calligraphy and paintings from successive generations of the Urasenke family is being held at the [Chado Shiryokan] until December 4, 2022 (Sunday).
Among the tea utensils and paintings used at tea ceremonies, there are some that are made by craftsmen with the Iemoto's wishes in mind, and others that are originally intended for other purposes but have been made to look like tea utensils. In particular, handmade tea ceremony utensils made from the heart naturally express the taste and preferences of the individual. This exhibition introduces the taste for tea handed down from Sen no Rikyu through items created by successive generations of the Urasenke family.
