This galette and crepe specialty restaurant will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2021 after opening a branch from France in Kagurazaka, Tokyo. In this milestone year, they left Sanjo Meitengai and set up a new store in an old private house on the approach to Wakaoji Shrine at the foot of Higashiyama.
The authentic taste of galette, which originated in Brittany, the birthplace of galette, is now available in Kyoto. The dough, made of buckwheat flour 1001 TP3T, is baked at high temperatures to a fragrant aroma, and ingredients such as eggs, ham, and mushrooms are woven into the galette, resulting in a chewy texture on the inside and a crispy, savory surface. The galette is served with cider (sparkling apple wine) imported directly from Brittany, which goes well with the galette. Take-out is also available.
