Art terrace lounge "NIWA" featuring "Kiwa," a light tea room, an interactive art experience by Naked, known for its art events using projection mapping, has opened in the East Plaza of Kyoto Station Building.
In this issue, I will introduce some of the attractions and highlights of my visit to [NIWA].
[NIWA] is a new type of art terrace lounge born from the "Garden Project," a collaboration between the Agency for Cultural Affairs, the Japan Tourism Agency, Kyoto Prefecture, Kyoto City, traditional culture-related organizations, and the creative company NAKED, INC.
[NIWA] is an open space where the entire east plaza is used as an eat-in space, where time passes in a relaxed manner. The spacious and relaxed atmosphere naturally encourages conversation. The café is not only a place to enjoy a cup of coffee, but it is also an easy place to stop by after work or while waiting for the train.
The restaurant offers Japanese sweets, matcha green tea, coffee, and other beverages made with carefully selected Kyoto ingredients. The restaurant also offers alcohol such as Kyoto craft beer and sake. Enjoy the snack set, which includes snacks designed to pair well with alcoholic beverages, packed in a stacked box.
The matcha latte, made with a rich selection of matcha green tea, has an exquisite taste with the rich matcha flavor and sweetness of milk. The mini-sized o-hagi (rice cakes) from Kyoto's long-established wagashi store Gion Ohagi Kotafuku are characterized by the fluffy glutinous rice and the refined sweetness of the red bean paste. Enjoy them with green tea.
Today's finest matcha latte 750 yen and petit o-hagi (set of 2) 700 yen
[The "Kiwa" light tea room is located in the NIWA building. This tearoom, produced by Naked, is centered around the "Kiwa" scroll given by Iemoto Sen Soshitsu of the Urasenke school of tea ceremony, creating a fantastic space where Kyoto and modern art fuse together.
The garden is full of highlights, including elegant bamboo art by Akane Teshigahara, Iemoto of the Sogetsu school of ikebana, and a garden by Katsuaki Ogawa, the next 12th generation of Ueji, who inherited the landscaping techniques of Jihei Ogawa, a garden designer who is considered a pioneer of modern Japanese gardens. Experience an immersive and one-of-a-kind space.

NIWA] is a much talked-about spot that opened in Kyoto Station, where visitors can enjoy themselves all day long from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm. This relaxing space where you can forget about time will become a place of relaxation for both locals and tourists from all over the world. Enjoy Kyoto's gourmet food and art in this spacious area.
