Kaku-uchi and Men Bansan (Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture) is the new face of the hot restaurant chain Yuasa Kaikan. The self-pouring style of Kaku-uchi is interesting, with customers pouring their own sake and wine and selecting drinks from a showcase.
The restaurant's signature menu item is a noodle dish themed "Sake-no Ato Men (Noodles After Sake That Lead to Tomorrow). It features a healthful soup blended with bonito, chicken stock, shijimi clam, and clam broth that is perfect for the end of a night of drinking. There are two types of noodles available: ramen noodles made by Kondo Seimen, a long-established noodle shop in Kyoto, and hand-pulled Handa Somen, so you can choose according to your mood that day.
The snack menu on the blackboard features exquisite choices to tickle the fancy of sake drinkers, such as whale bacon shipped directly from Nagasaki Prefecture, duck tataki, and homemade water kimchi. [The first floor also has a standing drinking counter, so it can be used for a variety of occasions.
