The "Kyoto Winter Journey," a destination campaign to promote the attractions of Kyoto in winter, will run from January to March 2024.

The themes of this year's event, the 58th, are "Murasaki Shikibu and The Tale of Genji" and "Dragon Tour in Kyoto for the Year of the Dragon. Fifteen temples will be open to the public, including those related to Murasaki Shikibu, the main character in next year's historical drama "To the Sunlit Lady," and "The Tale of Genji," a milestone in dynastic literature, as well as temples where visitors can meet the auspicious dragon at the beginning of the new year, in connection with the Chinese zodiac sign "dragon.

There are also a variety of special courses that take regular sightseeing buses and cabs to cultural properties, as well as special experience plans that require advance reservations to deeply appreciate Kyoto's unique history and culture.
