PR
Kyoto Avanti, a commercial facility located at the Hachijo exit of Kyoto Station, has long been a favorite among young people and other locals, and in recent years has been crowded with overseas tourists. Furaibo, which opened in 2024 and specializes in fried chicken wings, and Fisherman's Hut, which boasts fresh seafood dishes, the restaurant lineup remains the same, but the environment has been completely renewed. The interior design of the new restaurant, called "Abachika," combines the warmth of the Showa period with the sophistication of today's taste, making it a nostalgic yet new gourmet spot.
Also scheduled to celebrate the renewal is the nighttime bar event "SHOWA 100th Abacica Bar Night" to be held on March 21 (Fri.) and 22 (Sat.), 2025. The event will also be introduced for both alcohol lovers and non-alcoholic drinkers to enjoy.
It has been 40 years since the construction of Kyoto Avanti, the pavilion of youth that many of us who grew up in Kyoto would have been indebted to, was completed. The restaurant district has long retained a sense of nostalgia, but as the gateway to Kyoto, it will finally undergo a major renovation this spring to become "Abacica" in order to meet the expectations of the many people who come and go.
The key to the style is to brush up on "Showa". As we approach the 100th anniversary of the first year of the Showa era, we reviewed the charm of the Showa era, which even the young people of 2025 are focusing on, and transformed it into a stylish and sophisticated space while utilizing the atmosphere of the good old days.
Relaxing restaurant floor with Kyoto atmosphere
The interior features cobblestone flooring, reminiscent of typical Kyoto streetscapes such as Ponto-cho and Hanamikoji. The chic black ceiling and subdued lighting create a moody atmosphere. Some stores are open all day, making it easy to come in at any time of the day or for any purpose. It is ideal for dinner, lunch, or just a quick drink while waiting for the train or bus.
On March 21 (Fri.) and 22 (Sat.), 2025, a special two-day night event will be held to commemorate the floor renewal and express gratitude for 40 years of service. The lineup includes Sapporo Beer, which has an established reputation among beer lovers, as well as a variety of special cocktails & non-alcoholic cocktails made by bartenders, which can be enjoyed by both drinkers and non-drinkers.
In addition, each restaurant will offer a bar menu under the theme of "SHOWA 100th Abacica Bar Night" in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Showa era. During the event, Japanese songs from the 1970s, the time when the construction was completed, will be used as background music on the floor, and the atmosphere will be enlivened with heart-pounding music. Don't miss the Japanese illusions by street performer IZUMA.
During the event, a draft beer is offered at the generous price of 200 yen during Happy Hour from 5pm to 7pm! You can't miss this attractive event if you stop by before your Kyoto Station dinner.
