Starbucks Coffee Kyoto in the Kyoto Porta Underground Mall
PR
Starbucks Coffee's JIMOTO Made series offers a lucky charm in a lucky ball (fukudama) that brings good luck!
Originally, children and geisha and maiko in the Gion area used to receive them as New Year's gifts at the end of the year. It is a traditional culture that has been handed down only in the Higashiyama district (Gion) of Kyoto's Hanamachi district. On New Year's Eve, after the bell had rung, people would break open the ball and divine their fortune for the New Year by what was inside.
Inspired by such lucky charms, the capsules contain five types of charms carefully handcrafted one by one using traditional techniques. The capsule is a playful contraption in which you do not know which charm is in the capsule until you open it. The charms, which are based on lucky charms, are perfect for a happy new year. If you pick one up at a store, enjoy it as if you were trying your luck with a lucky ball.
