In the "Handicraft Selection for Business Entertainment 2024," a competition in which approximately 1,000 active secretaries participate each year, "supreme kelp" from Shimogamo Saryo, a long-established kaiseki restaurant in Sakyo-ku, Kyoto, was selected for the third time in total as a special selection and inducted into the Hall of Fame.
The "supreme kelp" is an assortment of two products: "kelp furikake," made with a luxurious amount of rare kelp from Donan, Hokkaido, blended with dried shrimp, sesame seeds, and Japanese pepper; and "Shimogamo kelp," made from natural Hokkaido kelp cut into grains, cooked in soy sauce, and dried for at least three days.
The secretaries who participated in the competition evaluated not only the taste, but also the fact that it is from a famous Kyoto restaurant and the luxurious packaging. The fact that it can be stored anywhere and lasts for a long time, and the fact that it can be enjoyed by people of all ages, are also important points.
