[2024] Oni wa soto! Three Setsubun festivals in Kyoto that invite spring
Various events are scheduled to be held at various locations to coincide with the autumn foliage, which will soon be at its best. The lineup is rich in variety, including light-ups and collaborations with temples! Enjoy the autumn season to the fullest with these special events.
From November 1 (Fri.) to December 1 (Sun.), 2024, the "Exhibition of Light and Color of Wagasa" will be held at the Noh Room in Zuishin-in Temple, decorated with colorful Japanese umbrellas. It is worth seeing the beautiful harmony of the red and orange autumn leaves decorating the temple and the colors of the wagasa decorated in the glittering Noh Room.
In addition, from November 22 (Fri.), Japanese umbrellas will be added to the garden and three other outdoor locations, and special nighttime illuminated viewing will be available. Don't miss this special seasonal experience.

From November 1 (Friday) to December 8 (Sunday), 2024, "NAKED Night Walk™ Hieizan Sakamoto" will be held in the Hieizan Sakamoto area (Sakamoto, Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture), which has been selected as a national Important Preservation District for Traditional Buildings, as an autumn night walk event to explore historical buildings and autumn leaves. This year, the Shogenji Temple, which is said to be the birthplace of Saicho, the founder of Enryakuji Temple and revered as a special sacred place, will be illuminated for the first time. Visitors can enjoy a relaxing autumn evening strolling through the temple grounds illuminated by warm lights inspired by dandelion flowers and enjoying refreshments from food trucks.

[This popular event lights up the maple trees in the Japanese garden "Suzaku-no-niwa" (Suzaku Garden), which is the pride of Umekoji Park, and the "upside-down maple leaves" that vividly appear in the shallow pond in the center of the park have been widely spread on SNS, delighting many visitors from Japan and abroad. The "Quiz de Momiji" for elementary school students, in which they can win a souvenir by answering a quiz, is also recommended for visitors with children.
