From October 16, 2024 (Wed.), Japanese sweet cocktails will be available for a limited time at THE BAR in The Royal Park Hotel Iconic Kyoto (Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture). The cocktails are based on "Ukaze," an authentic barley shochu made by Hamada Shuzo of Kagoshima, and are created under the concept of "learning from the past. The concept behind these cocktails is "Onmochishin," or "learning from the past." While respecting tradition, the cocktails incorporate new essences, making them perfect for Kyoto at this time of year when the Jidai Matsuri Festival is in full swing.
One of the cocktails, "Kaiso", is inspired by the "Cowboy", a cocktail named after a horse that walks majestically through the capital of Kyoto in the "Jidai Matsuri" procession and a cowherd who rode his horse to take care of his cattle during the western frontier era. It is based on the Japanese spirit "Ukaze," a barley shochu, to which milk is added to create a mellow flavor with a Japanese sake-like quality. To enjoy the harmony of the sweet aroma and sweetness characteristic of "Ukaze," it is interesting to note that it is served with a lovely wagashi (Japanese confectionery) from Kyoto's wagashi store, Kohzuki. Experience a new way to enjoy the pairing of shochu and Japanese sweets.
