Mr. Kido was selected from among 1,600 people by audition, and this was his first attempt at voice acting. He was chosen out of 1,600 applicants and auditioned for the role of "Rui, a gentle big dog. Director Yamada said, "I was impressed that he instantly "put" a gentle big dog in me. When he spoke to me as Rui, he had a gentle, cute, and warm voice, and I chose him because I thought he was perfect for the world I wanted to depict in this film.

Kido said, "People who saw the movie said to me, 'You used a higher voice than usual,' which was interesting for me. I didn't think of using a high voice to portray a gentle boy," he said with a shy smile.

About the film, Mr. Kido said, "The director's theme of 'the courage to say you love what you love' is important for me in my future life. I hope that this message will remain in the hearts of everyone who has seen the film." Director Yamada added, "I hope that after seeing the film, you will feel a little lighter.
