[The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu and a separate restaurant on the premises...
The afternoon tea at the Hyatt Regency Kyoto (Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture) has been changed for the summer season, and is now available with the finest Japanese tea from Ippodo Tea House, a long-established Japanese tea store in Kyoto. The tea stand made of Kyoto's famous bamboo, specially ordered from Miki Chikuzai, a bamboo craft store in Kyoto, is decorated with wind chimes made by Nakamura Fu-ring-ten, a summer-only craft unit consisting of a ceramic artist and a woodblock print artist.
The pastry chefs carefully prepare each sweet, using summer fruits such as melons and mangoes. A high-level menu that draws out the full potential of each ingredient is lined up on the tea stand.
Savory dishes are prepared by the chefs of Higashiyama, a Japanese restaurant located in the hotel. While staying true to the basics and traditions of Japanese cuisine, the lineup is rich in sensibility and new flavors that incorporate modern elements. Also, take note of the depth of the Japanese tea that is served with the meal.
In addition, shaved ice prepared by the Higashiyama chef and classic-style scones, an essential part of afternoon tea, are available for sweet dishes. The menu also includes ume plum jam from Aoya in Kyoto, clotted cream with Japanese black tea, and black soy bean honey stew.
Enjoy a luxurious late afternoon with a view of the Japanese garden.
