Two new baked sweets will appear on July 12, 2024 (Fri.) from Lloyds Kyoto, a Hokkaido chocolate maker [Lloyds]. Look out for these new sweets that incorporate ingredients and flavors familiar to Kyoto.
The first item to be introduced is the "Uji Matcha Tea Gateau Bretonne," a large, 15cm-diameter baked version of the galette Bretonne, a local pastry from Brittany, France, arranged in the "Royce Kyoto style" using Uji matcha tea produced in Kyoto Prefecture. The cookie dough with Uji matcha green tea is topped with macadamia nuts and hazelnuts, and the deep aroma and mild astringency of matcha green tea, the fragrance of the nuts, and the texture of the cookie crumbles gently. The generous size makes it an ideal gift for those who have taken care of you, or for yourself, as a special and luxurious treat.
The next item is a bite-sized "baked chocolat" with crunchy bubu-arare and finely crushed roasted almonds. [The Uji Matcha, Hojicha, and Kinako & Cinnamon are all in one box, with the Uji Matcha and Kinako & Cinnamon containing white chocolate, and the Hojicha containing white chocolate and cacao mass. The "Uji Matcha" and "Kinako & Cinnamon" contain white chocolate, while the "Hojicha" contains white chocolate and cacao mass.
Both can be carried around at room temperature, making them useful as small summer souvenirs.
