[2024] Enjoy cherry blossoms at night! Cherry Blossom Lights from Kyoto...
In spring, Kyoto offers even more beautiful scenery as cherry blossoms add color to the historic cityscape. Although this is the season when many people visit Kyoto for sightseeing, it would be a waste of time to go beyond just cherry blossom viewing! In this issue, we will introduce some recommended events held during the cherry blossom season. We have also picked up events other than those related to cherry blossoms, so please use them as a reference to enjoy spring in Kyoto to the fullest in addition to touring famous places.
For two days, 4,000 dancers from about 100 teams from inside and outside of Kyoto will perform at various venues in Kyoto City. You will be energized by the beautiful, gorgeous, and sometimes powerful dances. The costumes, dances, music, and other aspects of each team's individuality are sure to catch your attention.

Sixty-five breweries (companies) from all over Japan will participate in this sake festival, offering approximately 250 brands of sake from their respective breweries. Visitors can purchase their favorite brand in exchange for a sake ticket with an original sake cup in hand, and enjoy the sake with the perfect accompaniment (for an additional fee) provided by 15 popular restaurants in Kyoto. Also, don't miss the "PREMIUM & KANSAKE BAR" where you can try super-secret sake and long-aged sake from the sake cellars!

An event to create a new "circulation" movement with Generation Z and others involved in reuse. The event will feature the "¥0 Market," a free used clothing donation and collection program, as well as workshops, exhibitions, and stage events that allow people to experience reuse and recycling while having fun. There will also be a food court featuring carefully selected ingredients.

This event allows visitors to enjoy the nighttime cherry blossoms at Nijo Castle, one of the most popular cherry blossom viewing spots in Kyoto. 300 cherry trees of 50 varieties are illuminated at different times of the year, and the cherry blossom projection mapping at the Karamon Gate, an important cultural property, and digital art inspired by the Kano School's barrier paintings that decorate the Ninomaru Palace, a national treasure, will take you into a fantastic world. Held three times a year in spring, early summer, and fall, the Kyoto Antique Fair is Western Japan's largest antique event with a history of more than 20 years, and features a wide variety of stores from all over Japan selling antiques, antiques, furniture, paintings, Asian goods, Western antiques, and more.

For five days, visitors can enjoy cherry blossoms floating in the illuminated night and music performed by gorgeous artists in the historical space filled with the grandeur of Heian-kyo. There is no seating at the venue, so stroll through the illuminated shrine garden and listen to the soothing music by the East Shrine Garden and Seiho Pond. There are two types of tickets: an "admission ticket with concert" for both the East Shrine Garden (concert venue) and the South Shrine Garden (cherry blossoms lit up), and an "admission ticket" for the South Shrine Garden (cherry blossoms lit up) only.
