At a Kyoto interview in September 2023, Kinya Kitaoji said, "I think the content of the work is very contemporary. I feel that there is an atmosphere of the current world situation in this work. It is not a story of the past, but rather, it is a story that goes beyond the present. I think the story of this drama lives in the present.

He also said that there were many location shoots in the Kyoto area during this filming. I made my debut at Toei Kyoto Studio when I was 13 years old, and it has been 67 years this year, so I have many memories of this studio. When I enter the gate of the studio, I get nervous for a moment, and then I come in with my mind in order, and once again I am able to work with a sense of that time, the present. I have come this far step by step, absorbing various things with the enthusiasm of the wonderful predecessors and staff members. It is with this in mind that I played the role of Seizaemon in this film as well. When I was a boy, I grew up in Kyoto with fields, trees, and mountains, so when I went to such places for filming, I was reminded of those days with great nostalgia. I feel very blessed to be able to work in nature."

Seizaemon intervenes in a fight between boys at the dojo and becomes concerned about Shungo, the boy who started it all. He takes care of the boy's father, Magoshiro Tsuge, after learning that he has suffered a great deal of emotional trauma as a result of his failed attempt to escort an important person eight years ago and his wife's separation on suspicion of infidelity.
