The name of Kyoto sweets is synonymous with Kitayama's [Mar Blanci...
The Burning Iceberg Baked Alaska, a specialty dessert of the Mar Blanche Kyoto Kitayama Motomoto store, was a rare treat for confectionery stores when it was established in October 1982. The performance of flambéing and finishing it in front of the customers made it very popular, but it was regrettably no longer offered. However, a party held last year to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the establishment led to the decision to offer it as a regular menu item at the cafe from November 15, 2023. Please come and experience the authentic taste and the fantastic blue flame that envelops the pure white meringue.
The slightly warm meringue with a hint of flambéed kirsch is filled with cool marron ice cream reminiscent of Mar Blanche's Mont Blanc. The ice cream is surrounded by liquor-compote cherries and chestnut nectar to accentuate the flavor and mouthfeel. The shiny, sweet and sour blackcurrant and berry sauces are served with the ice cream to your liking.
The main store stands on Kitayama-dori. The shop offers a full lineup of cakes, baked goods, and other items from the Mar Blanche brand. In the adjoining salon, visitors can taste limited-edition sweets such as Mont Blanc Haute Couture, which is filled with freshly squeezed marron cream.
