For a limited time only, the Italian restaurant FORNI, located in the luxury hotel HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO in front of the World Heritage Nijo Castle, is offering a special course featuring North American wines and ingredients. The menu is produced by the restaurant's consultant chef, Fumio Yonezawa.
Mr. Yonezawa is well versed in American ingredients, having served as the first Japanese sous chef at a top restaurant in New York. His wild and delicate flavors, such as grilled American beef, pasta, and blueberry desserts, are paired with Washington and Oregon wines with ripe fruit flavors and fresh acidity. The selections were made by sommelier Motohiro Okoshi, who also teaches and writes as a wine consultant, and serves as a judge for wine and sake at the International Wine Competition (IWC). This is a collaboration of two people you can't take your eyes off of.
A launch event will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, prior to the launch of the special menu. The event will bring together Yonezawa, Okoshi, and Shingo Gokan, one of the world's hottest bartenders in the bar industry today.
