Round plate (7")
Miyazu is a peaceful castle town by the sea located in the northern part of Kyoto Prefecture. Yoichi and Emiko Akishika moved from Osaka to Miyazu in 2017 to start their pottery studio, AIKA CRAFT. Using clay she mined on her own and other clay that still has a rough texture, she produces dishes and cups that make the most of the materiality of the clay, mainly for daily use. This time, we introduce a 7" round plate with a simple design that is suitable for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and any time of the day!
[One of the production themes of AICA CRAFT is "Kyoto without elegance. This theme is expressed in the form of dishes that are easy to use in everyday life as "tools for serving food" and are finished in simple shapes in the hope that they can be used by a variety of people. The warmth of the clay and the natural colors that cannot be expressed in a single word create an organic beauty that attracts people who use it.
This 7" round dish is also useful for serving main dishes. It complements any dish, from curry and hamburgers to pasta and gyoza, so much so that there is no dish that does not go well with Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisine. Perhaps the reason for this is the gentle colors created by using glazes made from natural materials such as Tango clay and plant ashes. The colors are inspired by the scenery and nature that Mr. and Mrs. Akishika, who live in Miyazu, see in their daily lives, such as water, air, light, and soil. The round plates come in four colors: "morning mist," "surface of the water," "erased charcoal," and "rainy sky." The scenery of the dishes changes depending on the angle of view, giving them a different look for each scene of use.
[The dish is a round plate (7") "Amezora" by AIKA CRAFT, which is sold at "M Kyoto mall, a gourmet site for ordering food in Kyoto".Sohonke NIKU NO OHASHI-TEI Omi Beef Curry Western Style/Japanese Style Comparison Set".

[Aika Craft's round plates allow you to feel the nature of Miyazu. The simple texture of the clay and the colors that evoke the scenery of Miyazu will gently add color to your dining table while accompanying you in your daily life. It blends in with other tableware you have on hand, making it a versatile player on your dining table.
The "eraser" beautifully accentuates a wide range of menu items.
This 7" round dish is made using a simple, classic technique called the tatara process. The neat shape, which is formed after slicing clay, is not bulky even when stacked, and can be stored neatly so that it takes up little space.
The plate in the photo is "Water Surface. It is inspired by the calm sea of Miyazu Bay, which is fed by the forests of the Oeyama mountain range, and its texture is like the shimmering surface of the water.
