[TOKINOHA Ceramic Studio...]
[We interviewed Ms. Moeju Kinoshita, who handles the TOKINOTANE brand of TOKINOHA Ceramic Studio, about her thoughts on craftsmanship.
When I was in my early teens, I saw a video of a person spinning a potter's wheel, and that spark of inspiration, "I want to try this," was the starting point for everything I do. I started using the potter's wheel in high school and wanted to learn more about it, so I entered Kyoto Seika University and majored in ceramics at the Faculty of Arts. There is a place in Iwakura called "HOTOKI," which is a combination of a pottery store, cafe, and pottery class. Since 2020, I have been working as a craftsman at TOKINOHA Ceramic Studio. My love for ceramics has not changed since I was a student. The more I touch the clay and the potter's wheel, the more I can do what I couldn't do before. It's like suddenly being able to ride a bicycle one day. That's the charm.

One of my favorite souvenirs is Hanbei fu's sasamaki fu, which is smooth nama-fu with sweet bean paste wrapped in a bamboo grass leaf. It is very Kyoto-like and much appreciated.

I am also in contact with Mr. Hiroshi Takenaka, a Kyoto Prefecture Intangible Cultural Property holder who represents modern Japanese white porcelain, and I often visit his studio.
