Konkai Komyo-ji Temple in Kurodani [Kurodani] originated from a hermitage built by Honen Shonin in the Kurodani area.

It is one of the most famous places in Kyoto, known as "Eikando of maples." Byodoin was originally established in 1052 when Yorimichi Fujiwara converted Uji-den, the villa of his father, Michinaga Fujiwara, into a temple.
The special nighttime viewing, which was suspended after the fall of 2019, will be held for the first time in three years to coincide with the 970th anniversary of the founding of the temple in 2022. The autumn leaves and the Phoenix Hall (National Treasure) built on the central island of Ajiike will be illuminated, creating a fantastic atmosphere. This ancient temple is also known for Hideyoshi Toyotomi's "Daigo no Hanami" (cherry blossom viewing). The temple is full of seasonal scenery, historical buildings, and temple treasures. The maple and ginkgo trees on the temple grounds are in full bloom, creating a special seasonal atmosphere.

Chion-in Temple is the head temple of the Jodo sect of Buddhism and was founded in 1175 by Honen Shonin, the founder of the sect, who built a hermitage near the present Mikado Hall.
