2.NAKED Yolmoude 2022 Heian Jingu / Okazaki

Heian Jingu Shrine was built in 1895 to commemorate the 1,100th anniversary of the relocation of the capital to Heian, and was dedicated to the 50th Emperor Kammu, the god of the capital.
Creative company NAKED, INC. will hold "NAKED Yoru Moude," a new style of nocturnal worship, where visitors can enjoy the art of light with the "NAKED Distance Lantern ®︎" in hand in 2022.

3.Kurodani: Konkai Komyoji Temple Special Night-time Adoration [Kurodani Konkai Komyoji Temple]/Okazaki

Konkai Komyo-ji Temple in Kurodani [Kurodani] originated from a hermitage built by Honen Shonin in the Kurodani area.
The tunnel of autumn leaves stretching from both sides of the hill and the three-storied pagoda at the back of the tunnel are exceptional sights. During the special nighttime viewing, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the city of Kyoto from the temple grounds with the illuminated gate, and the autumn leaves reflected on the surface of the water in the "Garden of Purple Clouds" will captivate visitors.

Koudaiji Temple was built by Koudai-in (Nene), the wife of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, as his family grave and final resting place.
It is also known for its autumn foliage, and the fantastic scenery reflected in the mirror-like Garyu Pond when it is lit up is a must-see.
During the special season, the Hojo garden "Hashinniwa" will be specially decorated according to the theme, and will be a different karesansui (dry landscape garden) from the regular season.

Toji Temple was founded by the national government as a temple for the protection of the nation.
During the special nighttime viewing, the temple grounds are lit up and the fantastic contrast between the red and yellow colored trees and the five-story pagoda is mesmerizing.

6.Eikando (Zenrin-ji Temple): Autumn exhibition of temple treasures and illumination [Eikando (Zenrin-ji Temple)] / Okazaki, Japan

It is one of the most famous places in Kyoto, known as "Eikando of maples." In autumn, the temple holds an exhibition of temple treasures during the daytime, and at night, the temple is lit up with lights on a rotating basis. The precincts of the temple are illuminated by approximately 3,000 maple trees, including "Iwagaki-momiji". The view of the illuminated leaves reflected in Houshoike Pond is breathtaking. The illumination of the Amida Hall, where the main deity "Mikaeri Amida" is enshrined, is also a must-see.

7.Byodoin Temple, Uji, Kyoto, Japan

Byodoin was originally established in 1052 when Yorimichi Fujiwara converted Uji-den, the villa of his father, Michinaga Fujiwara, into a temple.
The special nighttime viewing, which was suspended after the fall of 2019, will be held for the first time in three years to coincide with the 970th anniversary of the founding of the temple in 2022. The autumn leaves and the Phoenix Hall (National Treasure) built on the central island of Ajiike will be illuminated, creating a fantastic atmosphere. The scenic garden and Museum Hoshokan will be open to the public.

8.End of this year] Daigoji Temple: Autumn Night-time Adoration [Daigoji Temple

This ancient temple is also known for Hideyoshi Toyotomi's "Daigo no Hanami" (cherry blossom viewing). The temple is full of seasonal scenery, historical buildings, and temple treasures. The maple and ginkgo trees on the temple grounds are in full bloom, creating a special seasonal atmosphere.
The five-story pagoda built in the Heian period (794-1192) and the vermilion-lacquered Benten-do (Benten Hall) float beautifully in the night sky.

Kitano Tenmangu Shrine is the head shrine of Tenmangu Shrine and Tenjinsha throughout Japan, which enshrines Sugawara no Michizane, the god of learning.
The surface of the Kamiya River, which runs north-south through the maple garden, is illuminated and dyed red, making it even more fantastic. Visitors can take a leisurely stroll along the promenade while gazing up at the colorful autumn leaves of approximately 350 trees.

10.Chion-in Temple: Autumn Light-up 2022 [Chion-in Temple] / Gion, Kyoto

Chion-in Temple is the head temple of the Jodo sect of Buddhism and was founded in 1175 by Honen Shonin, the founder of the sect, who built a hermitage near the present Mikado Hall.
The temple is illuminated in spring and fall. In the fall, the Yuzen-en Garden, a garden associated with Miyazaki Yuzenzai, the founder of Kyoto Yuzen, the Sanmon Gate, one of the largest double wooden gates in Japan, the Onna-zaka slope, and the Hojo Garden are lit up. The vast grounds are illuminated in a spectacular way.

11.NAKED FLOWERS 2022 Autumn / Nijo Castle

At Nijo Castle, the stage of many historical events, the Karamon Gate, an important cultural property, and the inner moat will be decorated with glittering phoenixes and projection mapping to create a gorgeous and colorful venue. The real and the metaverse are interlinked, and visitors and Ikenobo "co-create" ikebana in each space, creating a participatory work.

One of the Tenryu-ji temple's pagoda temples, founded in 1461.
Normally closed to the public, the garden is open for special viewing from early October and lit up in November when the autumn foliage season begins. Shishikaro-no-niwa," a circular landscape garden with Arashiyama in the background, is a famous garden that was recorded in "Miyako Rinsen Meisho Zue," a guide to famous places in Kyoto during the Edo period (1603-1868).

Officially known as Daikakuji Temple, also called Saga Gosho or Saga Gosho, it is the head temple of the Daikakuji School of Shingon Buddhism.
The vermilion-lacquered Shinkei treasure tower and the surrounding maple trees are reflected on the surface of Houshoike Pond, which is a beautiful and lustrous sight. During the fall foliage season, Osawa Pond, known as one of the three best places in Japan to view the moon, is illuminated. The reflection of the maple trees and the Shinkyohoto Pagoda on the surface of the water at night is also very atmospheric.

Ninna-ji Temple was founded by Emperor Uda in the early Heian period (794-1185) and has a strong connection with the imperial family.

15.Myokenji Temple Autumn Special Open House [Myokenji Temple]/Nishijin

The approach from the main gate to the main hall is flanked on both sides by pine trees and colored leaves, which in autumn create a beautiful contrast between the green of the pine trees and the red of the colored leaves. At night, the garden facing the Kyakuden, the "Shikai Shoin no Niwa" and the autumn leaves are lit up, creating a fantastic scene different from that of the daytime.

Koseiji Temple is a famous Soto sect temple known for its approach to Koto-zaka, where old trees with autumn leaves grow on both sides of a gentle uphill slope.
During the illumination of the autumn leaves, Kotosaka, a 200-meter approach to the Ryugu-zukuri temple gate, and the garden on the temple grounds will be lit up.

Yanggok-ji Temple was founded in 806 (Daido-gen) in the early Heian period (794-1185) by priest Enchin, the founder of Kiyomizu-dera Temple.
During the lighting-up period, the Kamishoin will be open to the public and limited red seals will be conferred. Visitors can also view the "Hana-Tezui" (flower water with hands), which has become a hot topic on SNS and in magazines, and an exhibition of temple treasures representing the present world and the next world that have been handed down from generation to generation.

The Kyoto Botanical Garden opened in 1924 as Japan's first public botanical garden.
During the nighttime illumination, various trees are illuminated with light. In particular, the reflection of approximately 200 Japanese maple trees around the pond in the Nakaragi Forest area on the surface of the water is a fantastic sight that should not be missed.

19.Nighttime Special Viewing [Kiyomizu-Dera Temple] / Kiyomizu-Michi

Kiyomizu Temple is one of the representative temples of Kyoto.
In December 2020, the main hall and the stage of Kiyomizu were given a new look and became the talk of the town. The main hall, known as the stage of Kiyomizu, and the surrounding mountain maples will be lit up, creating an even more ethereal scene.

20.Tofukuji Temple Night-time Adoration [Tofukuji Temple] / Tofukuji Temple

Tofukuji Temple is the head temple of the Tofukuji School of the Rinzai Sect of Zen Buddhism and boasts a magnificent temple complex.
From mid to late November, visitors can view the magnificent autumn leaves from Tsutenkyo Bridge in the precincts of the temple, which is also known as a famous autumn foliage viewing spot. The Tsutenkyo Bridge and the Hachiso-no-niwa (eight-phase garden) are the highlight of the autumn foliage illumination. The vermilion-painted Shinkyō Hōtō and the surrounding maple trees are reflected in the surface of Hōshō-ike Pond.
