[The millet zenzai at Tsuruya Yoshinobu's main store is a specialty, consisting of freshly steamed millet topped with a glossy warm red bean paste. The savory flavor of the carefully prepared millet and the dense red bean paste make an excellent match. Once you try it, you will become addicted to the taste.
Zenzai and oshiruko, made with carefully selected azuki beans, are available only from October to the end of April. You can enjoy the gentle taste of azuki beans, elastic white beans, and fragrant rice cake in this luxurious dish.
Zenzai is made with a generous amount of white azuki beans, a premium ingredient whose production is limited in quantity and season, and can be enjoyed from November to the end of March. The white azuki beans are cooked to an exquisite softness and have a refined sweetness. Top with red and white chidori and arare (Japanese sweet rice crackers) as desired.
Uji tea and other sweet treats are available in the store, and the winter-only (October through April) dark tea zenzai with hojicha (roasted green tea) is perfect for the cold season.
