Enjoy freshwater fish dishes at Kibune Fujiya
Set in Kibune, Kyoto, the movie "River, Don't Flow", which depicts the confusion of people who are stuck in a repeating 2-minute loop, will be released at TOHO Cinemas Nijo, Kyoto Cinema in Kyoto, and Aeon Cinema in Shiga. It will be released in Kusatsu from Friday, June 23, 2023!
The stage of the story is [Fujiya], a long-established restaurant in Kibune, Kyoto. Mikoto, a waitress who works here, was standing by the Kibune River behind the annex, but eventually returned to work. However, two minutes later, he is standing by the Kibune River again. Not only Mikoto, but also the head clerks, waitresses, chefs, and guests all return to where they were after two minutes, but only their memories are inherited and continuous. Those who want to get out of that loop, those who want to stay, their emotions begin to be disturbed.
Makoto Ueda, the representative of the theater company who wrote the Japanese dubbed scripts for "The Night Is Short, Walk on Girl", "Yojohan Time Machine Blues" and "The Super Mario Bros. Movie", wrote the original draft following "Droste's End".・This is the second original feature film produced by Europe Planning and Production, for which the screenplay was written. Expectations will naturally rise when it comes to the time loop x ensemble drama, which is the true value of European projects, but European projects do not disappoint. I would like you to fully enjoy the “loop comedy” at the theater.
Riko Fujitani (European Planning) plays the role of Mikoto, a waitress who works at a long-established restaurant inn [Fujiya], Yuki Torigoe plays the role of Taku, an apprentice chef, Manami Honjo, Saori, and Yoshimasa Kondo. Also, pay attention to Shiori Kubo of Nogizaka46 who will make a friendship appearance as a character who holds the key to the story.
Of course, members of the European project Munenori Nagano, Takashi Tsunoda, Yoshifumi Sakai, Miyabi Suwa, Gota Ishida, Haruki Nakagawa, and Kazunari Tosa will also appear. Guests, ryokan clerks, chefs, hunters, and other lovable characters with a certain peculiarity have a sense of familiarity, but also invite laughter.
The filming locations are Kifune Shrine and the restaurant [Fujiya]. With our full cooperation, it was carried out in January 2023. On the way, it was forced to be interrupted due to heavy snow, but it was completed successfully in February and March by taking follow-up shots. Kibune is famous for its kawadoko in the summer, but it's also exciting to be able to enjoy the snowy landscape in the winter.
The director is Junta Yamaguchi, a video director who directed the 2020 movie "Droste no Hate de Bokura". The film has won awards at many overseas film festivals and has been distributed in many countries, so this work is also attracting attention. Kazunari Kawagoe is in charge of photography. He is the cameraman for "Summer Time Machine Blues" (directed by Katsuyuki Motohiro), a film adaptation of a popular European project. And for the art, Naoki Soma, who worked on the time machine of "Summer Time Machine Blues". In addition, Kyoto University of the Arts film production course 4th year students participate in art production as prop staff and costume assistant staff.
For the theme song, rock band Quruli from Kyoto provides the song "Smile" from the EP work "Ai no Taiyo EP". A truly made-in-Kyoto work has been completed.
While trying to break out of the loop, friendship, work relationships, and even romance are entwined, making this a highly satisfying comedy that makes you laugh. Please come to the theater to experience the fun and humor that comes from European projects that have worked on works with the theme of "time"!
